Lake Michigan College Board Gives High Marks
to President
BENTON
TOWNSHIP, MI - In its review of the College president's job
performance, the Lake Michigan College Board of Trustees has
given Dr. Randall Miller an excellent performance evaluation.
During the review process, Miller was evaluated by each of the
College's seven Board members in areas including leadership,
communication and institutional performance.
According to LMC Board chairman, Steve Silcox,
notable achievements during Miller's first 18 months include
the opening of the Nursing Education Center last fall that has
taken the College's nursing program to new levels of excellence;
efforts to enhance academics; and a financial planning process
that has resulted in a five-year capital needs assessment, analysis
of health care benefits and energy costs, and a review of the
physical plant needs of the College.
"Dr. Miller has brought dedication and passion
to his role of president," stated Silcox. "It is clear
that he is committed to making sure our students receive the
very best education. He has worked hard to seek out new outreach
avenues for the College as we strive to make a college education
more accessible to residents of our region."
The Board also noted Miller's efforts to strengthen
the College's position as the primary provider of workforce
training in the region, his focus on keeping each Board member
informed on issues, his advocacy for LMC and all community colleges
in Michigan, and his restructuring of the LMC Foundation for
improved effectiveness.
"We are working very hard as a team to continue
to move Lake Michigan College forward and to position us as
the primary provider of education and training in emerging technologies
and as the school of choice for those students seeking to transfer
to receive four-year and graduate degrees," stated Miller.
"Our faculty and staff are excited about the many new initiatives
we are pursuing that will take us to the next level. I am very
pleased to be working with such an outstanding Board of Trustees
that cares deeply about our students and that provides wise
counsel and guidance in steering LMC."
The LMC Board of Trustees is comprised of seven
members: Steven Silcox, chairman; Pat Moody, vice-chairman;
Paul Bergan, treasurer; Dr. David Maysick, secretary;
and trustees Barbara Hall, Judy Truesdell, and
Renee Williams.
