Lake Michigan College Foundation Establishes
Director Emeritus Recognition
BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI - The Lake Michigan College
Foundation Board of Directors has named six former members as
emeritus directors in recognition of their exceptional service
and leadership in support of the College. Along with the director
emeritus title, the Foundation will award scholarships in honor
of each director emeritus named.
Past LMC Foundation Board members receiving director
emeritus honors were Richard Dougherty, Niles, who served
from 1986 - 2005; James Keenan, South Bend, 1998 - 2007;
William Marohn, St. Joseph, 1986 - 2007; Dan Smith,
St. Joseph, 1997 - 2003; Stephen Upton, St. Joseph, 1992
- 2001, and Warren Gast, St. Joseph, posthumously honored
for his service from 1986 - 2007. For the 2007-08 academic year,
six $500 scholarships will be awarded to LMC students in their
names.
"The emeritus designation is a high honor
for those individuals who have distinguished themselves through
meritorious service to Lake Michigan College," said LMC
President Dr. Randall R. Miller. "The director emeritus
scholarship is another way in which we can express gratitude
to our past members and remember the impact that they have had
on the College."
Recognizing the need for private support of the
College to maintain premier programs and services in the pursuit
of academic excellence, the Lake Michigan College Foundation
was established in 1986.
The Foundation members share the Lake Michigan College story
with businesses and friends throughout the region and seek private
support for student scholarships, as well as enhancements to
the College's academic programs, services and facilities. Through
their partnership-building efforts, they are ensuring that the
College can achieve its mission and support the development
of our region's residents and businesses now and for generations
to come.
